Between the Parc Jean-Jacques Rousseau, in Ermenonville, and the Abbaye Royale de Chaalis, in one of the smallest geographical areas, located twelve miles north-east of Paris, the small Launette valley successively attracted Jean-Jacques Rousseau ( 1712-1778), Étienne Pivert de Senancour (1770-1846) and Gérard de Nerval (1808-1855). They made this space, already full of spirituality, one of the cradles of French literary romanticism.
